Collect supports over 25 question types, these can range from simple text questions to monitoring questions. Here is information about how to answer every type of question on Collect.

Choice Question (single):

1. Scroll to see all options and select the desired response.
2. You can select only one option.
3. Click 'Save'.

Choice Question (multiple):

1. Scroll to see all options and select the desired response.
2. You can select multiple responses based on the limits defined by the admin.
3. Click 'Save'.

Number Question:

1. Tap the question.
2. Enter a number.
3. If that number is not a valid response, the error will be shown in red, along with the allowed range. Please re-enter a number in that range.
4. Click 'Save'.

Text Question:

1. Tap the question and enter the response.
2. Click 'Save'.

Location Question:

Read the steps below or check out our short video on capturing geolocation on Collect.

1. Ensure you are in an open area. You should have a clear view of the sky while capturing a location.
2. Check your device's satellite availability on Collect. How many satellites is the device connected to? I Don't Have Internet. How Can I Capture My Location?
3. Switch on your internet connection.
4. Press 'Tap to get location'. 
5. If you are fetching your location for the first time, Collect will request permission to use GPS. Click on 'Allow'.
6. It will take some time to record the location, based on your location accuracy. Be patient, and keep the device in the same place while fetching the location. 
   1. High accuracy: 30 seconds
   2. Medium accuracy: 20 seconds
   3. Low accuracy: 15 seconds
7. Once your location has been captured, you will be able to view the accuracy of the location. If you have internet connectivity, you will also be able to view the location on a map. 
8. If the recorded location is not correct or the accuracy is too low, you will see a message asking if you want to retry, press 'Retry' to fetch your location again. Otherwise, you can save the recorded location. 

Date Question:

1. Tap to enter the response in the given format.
2. This will open the default date picker.
3. Click on the date, month, and year and enter your responses.
4. Select 'Set'.

Time Question:

1. Tap to enter the response in the given format.
2. This will open the default time picker.
3. Choose the hours and minutes of your response.
4. Select 'Set'.

Image Question:

There are two ways to submit an image on Collect. Depending on whether the admin has applied a restriction on uploading an image from the gallery or not, there are two ways of submitting an image. Follow these steps:

1. If you'd like to take a photo, select 'Use Camera'.
   1. The camera app will open.
   2. If you are capturing an image for the first time, then Collect will request permission to use your device's camera. Click on 'Allow'.
   3. Align the camera and press 'Capture Image'.
   4. If the image is dark or has bad quality, the app will alert to capture the image again. You can take another picture or save anyway.
   5. Once you've happy with your photo, click on 'Save'.
2. If you'd like to use a photo on your phone, select 'Use Gallery'.
   1. You will be redirected to the phone gallery.
   2. Press the desired image to select it.
   3. Click on 'Save.'

To expand an image, click on it. To close the image preview, click on the X in the top right corner.

Signature Question:

1. Tap on the question.
2. A pop-up box will appear with space for a signature.
3. Sign in the given space.
4. Select 'Save'.

Phone Question:

1. Select the country code from the drop-down list.
2. Tap the field and enter the 10-digit phone number. 
3. Select 'Save'.

Barcode Question:

1. Tap to scan a barcode.
2. Capture the barcode image with your device's camera.
3. Once the barcode has been successfully scanned, click 'Accept'.

Note Question:

1. Tap to enter content. Type the text.
2. Select 'Save'.

Email Question:

1. Tap to enter the email. It must contain '@' and be in a format similar to abc@xyz.com.
2. Select 'Save'.

Audio Question:

1. Tap to record audio.
2. Press 'Start Recording'.
3. Press 'Stop Recording' once you are done recording.
4. You can choose 'Reset' if you are not satisfied and would like to record new audio.
5. Press 'Play' to replay your recording.

Monitoring Question:

1. Press 'Select Entity'.
2. You will be able to view a list of options. Choose the relevant option. (You can use search to find the correct option if the list of entities is long.)
3. Tap on the selected entity.
4. Re-check if the selected entity is correct. 
5. If so, press 'Save'. 
6. If not, press 'Cancel' to select another entity.

Group Question:

Follow these steps to enter data in a group question:

1. Click on a group, and a list of child-questions will appear. 
2. Fill each sub-question with the relevant data. As each child-question is answered, the child-question number will turn from orange to green.
3. Once you've answered all sub-questions for this group, press 'OK'.
4. Click on the next group to view its child-questions.
5. Repeat this process until you've completed all groups in the question.

Image Geo-Tag Question:

Follow these steps to enter data in an image geo question:

1. Press 'Geo-Tag Image'.
2. If your GPS is off, you may encounter a message that says, 'To continue, let your device turn on location using Google's Location Service'. Select 'OK'.
3. The device may take a while to detect the location, depending on your location accuracy. You can not perform any other action during this time. 
   1. High accuracy: 30 seconds
   2. Medium accuracy: 20 seconds
   3. Low accuracy: 15 seconds
4. When the camera app opens, align the camera and tap 'Capture Image'.
5. Select 'Save'.

Video Question:

Follow these steps to capture a video in a video question:

1. Click on the video question. Now click on 'Record Video'. 
2. Your camera will start. Now click on the capture dot present in the center of the screen. The phone will make a beep sound and start capturing a video.
3. Once you've recorded the video, press on that button again.
4. Now, you can either 'Cancel' and record again or 'Save' it.
5. Click on the option you want.

Rating Question:

Follow these steps to enter data in a rating question:

1. Tap how many stars you want to give.
2. This response will get recorded.

Scale Question:

Follow these steps to enter data in a scale question:

1. Move the scale to the number you want to give.
2. This response will get recorded.

Area on Map : 

Follow these steps to enter data in an area on map question : 

1. Go to the area question and tap on it.
2. Use either Place Markers, Draw on Map or move around to capture the area.
   1. Place Markers: You can point the edges of the land on the map. The edges will be joined to compute the area
   2. Draw on Map: You can draw the dimension of the land on the map and the area will be computed based on that.
   3. Move around: As you walk around the circumference of the land, the area will be computed.
3. The area will be calculated based on your selection

Distance on Map : 

Follow these steps to enter data in a distance on map question : 

1. Go to the distance question and tap on it.
2. Tap on the map to place markers, and your distance will be measured automatically. 
3. The distance will be calculated based on your selection
