The data that we use comes from multiple sources. In order to connect these sources with Atlan to use this data, follow the steps given below.

STEP 1: Go to the governance tab and click on the connections option on the left. All your services options and existing connections within those services will be visible.

STEP 2:  To add a new connection, click on the big blue button given on the right ‘+ ADD NEW CONNECTION’.

STEP 3: A small window will open up where you can select a service of which you want to add a connection. For example, I want to add an S3 connection, I will select Amazon S3 as a service and then click on the ‘SETUP CONNECTION’ button given below.

STEP 4:  Configure the settings of your connection. It will ask for Access key ID and Secret Access Key so that only the admin of the data source or a person with access can only configure the set up. If you need help in figuring out the access id’s, steps to extract it is also given below as your scroll down this config window. After adding all details, click on ‘ADD’

STEP 5: If all information is entered correctly, your connection will get added and will display in the list of connections present, as shown in step 1. Also, for security reasons, you will not be able to see the access keys even when editing the config settings of an existing connection.

Congratulations! Your data in the connected source is now ready to be cataloged on Atlan using integrations or to be used as a data source while building workflows.
