Observe if your form responses are being duly captured by the users by seeing the time they’ve taken to capture each response.

How is the time spent to fill a response calculated?

Time Spent is the time lapsed between when a user starts filling a response on the Collect app and when he submits it. It is calculated as the difference between when the user clicks on the “Start” button and the “Submit” button while filling out a response on the Collect app.

What happens when the response is kept in draft state?

Responses on Collect can be saved as drafts in case the user needs to revisit the response at a later stage before submitting it. In such cases, the time spent would include the time period when the response was a draft on the user’s app.

For instance, if a response is kept in draft state for 1 day and the user submits the response after that, those 24 hours will be included in the time taken to fill the response.

What happens when the response is flagged and resurveyed?

Resurveyed responses are response which you’ve flagged for which the user has submitted a response again. For such responses, as for any other response, the time spent calculated as the difference between the time the user starts resurveying the response and the time he/she submits it. Time for the previous flagged response is not included in the resurveyed response.

Why is time spent N/A in some of the responses submitted?

Time spent is calculated using the time zone set on individual user phones. In rare cases, it's possible that the user changes the time or time zone on their phones which leads to incorrect calculation of time spent in submitting a response. In such cases, the data shows time spent as N/A.

For instance, if the start time for a response is 6 pm IST and the submit time is captured as 4 PM IST (due to a change in phone time), the time spent would be calculated in negative and hence appear as N/A on the data.

Can I get the time spent on responses uploaded as CSV as well?

No. Since these responses are uploaded at a point of time directly and not captured individually on the Collect mobile app, the time spent on these cannot be calculated.
